President's Message

Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association (MCTA) was established in 1992 in Kuala Lumpur. Since then, we had expanded to other states with the formation of our Chapters in Johor, Perak, Penang and Sabah. As today we are one of the top five tourism associations in Malaysia with more than 600 members. In the near future, we intend to establish chapters in Sarawak and Malacca.

To enhance the Association's professional and international image, MCTA has established long term tourism cooperation relationship with many foreign tourism boards/organizations.

We also work very closely with the Ministry Of Tourism, Tourism Malaysia in the promotion and development of Malaysian tourism both domestically internationally.

Our annual event, the Malaysia International Travel Mart or MITM Travel Fair has gained increasing recognition as one of the most sought after travel fair for the tour operators, national tourism organizations since it was started in 2001. At the state level, our chapters also organize their own travel fair to create trading platform for the tourism industry peers and consumers to promote and enhance the tourism industries in their respective state.

It is heartened to note that our Penang Chapter had organized a very successful first MITM Travel Fair in Penang from June 23 to 24 in 2012 at Straits Quay Convention Centre, which attracted more than 40 thousand visitors with gross business turnover estimated at 2.2 million ringgit. This has become the much-talked about story in our tourism industries.

Our achievements in MITM Travel Fair is not merely our own effort but more importantly due to the overwhelming supports from government agencies, the major airlines, national tourism organizations and MCTA members. With their supports and encouragements, we shall further strengthen the tourism industries in Malaysia.
